The one positive narrative surrounding the Toronto Blue Jays this season comes from last season.
It's that, in 2025, they didn't really start to heat up until June.
Well, it's 2026, and June is here, and the Blue Jays better get to work.
Part of the problem, though, is that the bats just aren't getting it done. Even Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who has a few positive surface numbers, is hardly hitting for any power.
"The offense... has been uninspiring," MLB.com's Mark Feinsand wrote as part of a new article on Tuesday. "The defending AL champs rank 11th in runs scored and 13th in OPS, with only one hitter (Kazuma Okamoto) hitting more than six home runs. Guerrero is hitting .298 with a .392 on-base percentage, but the slugger hit only three home runs in his first 58 games, looking nothing like his usual imposing self."

Interestingly, Feinsand doesn't use these facts to consider the Blue Jays as a seller.
Instead, he wonders how aggressive Toronto will be in buying a bat on the trade market to help Okamoto, Vladdy and company put up more runs.
"Can the Blue Jays’ offense turn things around?" Feinsand writes. "Toronto’s run to the World Series last fall created big expectations for 2026, and despite the injuries and slow start, the Blue Jays are in position to make the playoffs. Will general manager Ross Atkins make a splash at the Deadline to increase those chances?"
Toronto hasn't had great injury luck this season, either, particularly to the starting rotation but also to bats like Alejandro Kirk and Addison Barger (and a before-the-season injury for Anthony Santander). A few returns could also help the productivity.
But this definitely feels like a Blue Jays team in need of a spark. How soon might they pursue one, and who could it be? Those are big questions still to be answered.
