The Toronto Blue Jays are 29-30, and likely about to be 29-31 with the Baltimore Orioles up 9-0 on the Blue Jays during Sunday's day-game in Baltimore after six innings.
But a potential loss during this game won't be the storyline for the Blue Jays. Instead, it will revolve around Jesus Sanchez, who left the game early due to a bizarre situation.
As Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports, a fan apparently threw a ball onto the field, hitting Sanchez in the wrist, and forcing the Toronto outfielder out of the game. This is a bizarre situation, and there's bound to be a lot more to come out going forward.
Jesus Sanchez leaves game after being hit by a baseball thrown by a fan
"It appears a fan in the right field bleachers at Camden Yards threw a ball at Blue Jays RF Jesus Sanchez and hit him on the wrist," Calvin Meyer reports. "Sanchez was in pain and left the game. When explaining to Toronto manager John Schneider what happened, Sanchez pointed towards the RF stands."
Sanchez appears to have been hit by a baseball thrown from the stands on his right wrist, which led to him being pulled from the game due to an injury.
This is a baffling situation, and the video of the incident doesn't help clear the air on what happened. Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Banner shared a close-up of the incident, which shows the baffling injury to Sanchez.
This is video from Peacock. Sorry for my trash video quality of the screen. It shows something — a ball, presumably — hitting Jesús Sánchez pic.twitter.com/nsFKtRPJbk
— Andy Kostka (@afkostka) May 31, 2026The Blue Jays' right fielder was talking to a fan or fans in the stands, and then out of nowhere, he appears to be hit by a baseball on his right wrist, coming from his right.

This is a baffling situation for the Blue Jays and their beloved right fielder, as Sanchez was seemingly hit by a ball from the stands and was forced to leave the game due to getting hurt.
While the full story isn't known yet, this will be one to follow along with closely, as there's bound to be a lot more information to come out after the game, both from the Orioles organization and from Sanchez himself.
