The Toronto Blue Jays are adding a new pitcher to the mix.
They called up Spencer Turnbull from Triple-A on Sunday after previously signing the MLB veteran to a one-year deal.
Turnbull, 32, needed to get stretched out in the minor leagues before coming up to the majors.
On June 6, he made his final rehab start, throwing 4.2 innings for Triple-A Buffalo. He got hit around by the Triple-A Syracuse Mets (five runs allowed), but the Blue Jays needed to bring Turnbull up now to meet the terms of his contract, writes MLB Trade Rumors.

Turnbull's MLB career began with five seasons in Detroit.
He then joined the Phillies for the 2024 campaign. He made seven starts and 10 relief appearances, combining to have a 2.65 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.
If the Blue Jays get that pitcher, this is a steal.
Turnbull is capable of both starting games and providing length while simultaneously not minding the idea of waiting around for his chance.
The Blue Jays are still without injured pitchers Max Scherzer and Alek Manoah. They haven't yet named a starter for June 11 against the Cardinals.
Turnbull will get into games one way or the other, because the Blue Jays need the innings.
