Charles McAdoo wouldn't have drawn up his first two MLB at bats the way they went.
The Toronto Blue Jays rookie, making his major league debut on Friday night, struck out his first time up, chasing multiple high fastballs. His second time, he swung at the first pitch, another one up, and popped out in foul territory to first baseman Pete Alonso.
His third at bat? Yeah, that's how he dreamt it.
This time, McAdoo got a hold of a pitch up and drove it the other way to deep right-center.
After the ball looked like it might stay in the yard, it got enough carry to leave the ballpark for a home run.
It was McAdoo's first major league hit and home run all in one, a two-run shot to get Toronto back in the game that it eventually came all the way back to win.
In the process, McAdoo became the sixth player in Blue Jays history to homer in his first MLB game, joining Al Woods, Steve Staggs, J.P. Arencibia, Devon Travis and Davis Schneider.

That's a bit of a random list of players. It certainly suggests there are no guarantees about McAdoo's career despite his immediate homer.
Still, it's a special way to start things off for the athletically impressive infielder who was called up earlier in the week.
McAdoo will get a chance to play if he keeps hitting like this. And he even showed he can make in-game adjustments after a couple tough trips to the plate.
He won't forget this night anytime soon.
