The Cleveland Cavaliers just got eliminated over the past week as they got swept in the Eastern Conference Finals by the New York Knicks. It was a disappointing end to a promising season, especially with James Harden joining the Cavs midway through the campaign.
Now that the Cavs have been eliminated, offseason talks are coming up. Donovan Mitchell is at the center of it yet again, as some people believe he is on his way out. He has always indicated that he wants to stay, and he is not moving away from that position.
Donovan Mitchell wants to keep playing for the Cavaliers for the foreseeable future
It has been a rough few days for the Cavaliers because they just got swept. After years of trying to get past the second round, the Cavaliers managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2018, and they could not get a single win.
Mitchell played relatively well, but the rest of the Cavaliers struggled. That has led to people spreading rumors about him leaving the Cavs because he did not have much help during the postseason. That is an overblown narrative according to Mitchell.

Considering that Mitchell did not have the best series either, that is a narrative that should not be thrown around. Even Mitchell himself admits that it is getting to him because he dislikes the idea of going back on his promises, as he committed his future with the Cavaliers.
"I feel like this has been a consistent theme every single season I've been here. I thought it would go away after I signed the first extension. I love it here, I see growth, I see a runway, I believe, I've made Cleveland home. Outside of just basketball, I don't wanna go," Mitchell said in an interview with Andscape about his future in Cleveland.
As Mitchell and the Cavs progress, they will want to replicate what the Knicks have done over the past few years. Now, they can fully improve on their team yet again. The Cavs have the promising future with their roster, and they still have some room to grow.
