The Buffalo Bills' 23-19 loss to the Houston Texans was a brutal reality check for the AFC East champs as Josh Allen and the offense had a torrid night.
The defending MVP was often running for his life as the Texans' defense posted a whopping eight sacks, while also picking Allen off twice, one being the game-sealer.
Now dropping to 7-4, the same question marks that were hanging over the offense weren't answered in the loss as Allen, aside from Khalil Shakir (eight rec, 110 yards), didn't have a reliable target to throw to.
And when asked if the defense did anything different than what he was expecting, Allen gave a rather eyebrow-raising answer that likely won't go down too well with Bills Mafia.
“They just wanted it, you know, and we had a chance to win it there at the end and got to find a way,” Allen said.
They just wanted it? That isn't great from an offense that needed to prove to the NFL world that things were still on track.

Bills continue inconsistent season as AFC East now a long shot
With the New England Patriots running away with the division, Buffalo needed a win in Houston to keep the pressure on Drake Maye and Co.
But now, Buffalo's most likely avenue to the postseason isn't being a division winner, but a wild card team, and if it keeps losing, things could get dicey.
This season was supposed to be one where the Bills won the AFC East at a canter, made the playoffs, and won the Super Bowl. Those were the expectations, and through 12 weeks, it looks like they will only accomplish one of those things.
It is back to the drawing board for Joe Brady and the offense after yet another indifferent showing, and as far as confidence in Buffalo as a genuine Super Bowl contender? Well, that seems to be waning with each passing week.
