Bill Belichick's hopes of securing bowl game eligibility in his first season with the UNC Tar Heels took a hit in Week 12. Wake Forest defeated the Tar Heels, and their record is now 4-6 with two games left to play.
After the game, Wake Forest head coach Jake Dickert ran across the gridiron to meet Bill Belichick for the customary post-game handshake. However, Belichick looked stiff and appeared to brush past his counterpart.
College football fans saw the interaction and torched Belichick.

Some fans saw nothing wrong in Belichick's action.
A fan wrote, "Wake Forest scored at the end when they could’ve kneeled on the ball that’s what he was pissed about" One added, "An “awful look?” Really? He shook his hand what exactly do you want him to do? Another chimed in, saying, "Dickert is a class act."Bill Belichick has endured a trying transition to coaching at the collegiate level. He's lost more games than he's won at this stage of the season, and the Tar Heels aren't in a better position than last year.
Their defeat against Wake Forest was yet another trying game for the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach.
Bill Belichick denies New York Giants links
Bill Belichick spent some of his formative years in the NFL as the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants. He won two Super Bowl games as an assistant to the legendary Bill Parcells.
So, it wasn't a surprise when Belichick was linked to a return to the Giants after the franchise fired Brian Daboll. However, it looks like the future Pro Football Hall of Famer isn't leaving UNC anytime soon.
According to ESPN, Belichick says he will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies. Belichick took to Instagram to post a statement clarifying his plans. He wrote,
"Despite circulating rumors, I have not and will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies. I have great respect and genuinely care for the New York Giants organization and both the Mara and Tisch families. The New York Giants played an important role in my life and in my coaching journey. It was a privilege for me to work for the Mara family and be a member of Coach Parcells' staff for over a decade."The Tar Heels' head coach continued,
"We have tremendous support from the university, our alumni, and the entire Carolina community. My focus remains solely on continuing to improve this team, develop our players, and build a program that makes Tar Heel fans proud."Bill Belichick is locked in with the Tar Heels, and he's motivated to turn the program's fortunes around. That means that he's not throwing his hat into the ring just yet to make a return to the NFL.
Next up for Bill Belichick and his team is a matchup against Duke. They'll look to put the Wake Forest loss behind them and record a statement win at home.
