“Best birthday surprise”- Alica Schmidt reveals dream come true moment during special concert

Born in Worms in 1998 and raised in Pulheim, Alica Schmidt celebrated her 27th birthday on Saturday. As she celebrated her special day, Schmidt revealed her dream moment as she attended a special music concert.

During her birthday getaway, Schmidt was surprised with a visit to composer Hans Zimmer's concert. She shared a few videos of the concert, one of which showed him playing The Lion King's "Circle of Life" tune. While sharing the video, she expressed her admiration, writing:

Yesterday evening we went to Hans Zimmer and it was absolutely magical."

She added:

"I love all of these pieces. It's just epic."

A few moments later, she also shared Zimmer playing the Inception movie's most well-known soundtrack, "Time." Making her feelings known about the composition, Schmidt revealed her training ritual and wrote:

"I listen to this soundtrack in almost every training session, before every competition, to see him perform it live was a dream come true moment." "Best birthday surprise," she wrote, adding a teary-eyed emoji.

She was seen celebrating her birthday in Vienna, Austria, with her friends. The German athlete also shared a few pictures from her week-long celebration, writing:

"27✨ a weekend for the books 🤍🥺"

She wore a cream houndstooth co-ord set and an all-black outfit.

Alica Schmidt reflected on her 2025 season, highlighting that it was full of ups and downs. Although the season was disappointing for her, she said she was focused on learning and improving as she transitioned to 800m.

"This season really put me to the test this year," Schmidt said. "Tough races, lots of lessons, and a whole lot of growth. It wasn’t the season I was hoping for, but it was definitely the one I needed. Unfortunately, I caught Covid a few days before Nationals, so I wasn’t able to show up at my best, definitely frustrating." "This year is about committing, learning, challenging and accepting. Everything I need to learn on how to tackle the 800m. Hoping to get my body 100% healthy again and squeeze in a few more races before shifting focus to 2026. Still completely in love with the process. 🫶🔥"

Alica Schmidt competed in the 800m at the National Championships, but could not qualify for the World Athletics Championships.
