Bengals' Zac Taylor breaks silence on Ja'Marr Chase spitting controversy

The Cincinnati Bengals lost in Week 11 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which could force the Bengals out of the playoff race in the AFC North this season.

Near the end of the game, Jalen Ramsey of the Steelers hit Ja'Marr Chase in the helmet due to Chase allegedly spitting on him. The video shared by Austin Briski of Fox 19 was damning, as Chase was shown spitting on Ramsey right before their altercation.

The next day, Bengals' head coach Zac Taylor was asked about this incident. As Mike Garafolo of NFL Network shares, Taylor was critical of Chase's spitting controversy, saying Chase crossed a line.

Ja'Marr Chase 'crossed a line' with spitting incident, according to Zac Taylor

"Obviously, what happened is crossing the line," Taylor said. "We can't have that. I know he'll own up to that."

Chase was seen spitting on Ramsey, which led to Ramsey hitting Chase in the helmet before the Steelers' defensive back was ejected.

This incident is under investigation by the NFL, and Chase could wind up getting suspended for their Week 12 game against the New England Patriots.

Jalen Carter was thrown out of the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 1 game for spitting on Dak Prescott, and the storyline became whether we would be suspended for another game or not.

He wasn't, as the league deemed Carter to have served his suspension after getting ejected before the Eagles' first play in that game. If they rule similarly in this case, then Chase's late-game spitting incident could lead to a Week 12 suspension.

Regardless of what happens to Chase in Week 12, this was an unacceptable act. Taylor said Chase crossed a line by spitting on Ramsey. While Chase has handled adversity well, this was a lowlight for the superstar receiver.
