The Cincinnati Bengals are in the process of screwing up with star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson.
Hendrickson and the Bengals have been at odds over a contract since at least last year, and things haven't gotten any better in 2025.
Hendrickson publicly criticized the team for its handling of the situation on three occasions this offseason, with his most recent comments coming on the practice field at the Bengals' voluntary workouts, where Hendrickson revealed that he wouldn't play without a new contract in 2025.
"We've tried to keep it as least amount as personal as possible, but at some point in this process it's becomes personal," he said to reporters. "Being sent 30 days before mandatory camp, or how many ever days it is, that if I don't show up I will be fined alludes to the fact that something won't get done in that time frame."
"And when there's a lack of communication in any relationship, if it's business or personal relationship, lack of communication leads to animosity, and that leaves my narrative only to me with no clear direction," Hendrickson added.
Several current and former NFL stars have weighed in on the situation, including Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward, who suggests that Cincinnati simply doesn't have the money to sign Hendrickson.
"They don't have enough money," Heyward said with a laugh on his Not Just Football with Cam Heyward podcast. "I dare you to go pay him."
