This year’s Belmont Stakes features a highly anticipated group of eight horses. However, fans will be most excited to see a rematch between Sovereignty, winner of the Kentucky Derby, and Journalism, the Preakness Stakes champion.
Sovereignty skipped the Preakness to prepare for Belmont, which creates a high-stakes (pardon the pun) race between two heavyweights of the 2025 season.
While all eyes will be on the two recent winners, don't forget about Baeza and Rodriguez.
Baeza's mother, Puca, also produced Mage (the winner of the 2023 Kentucky Derby) and Dornoch (the winner of the 2024 Belmont Stakes). Rodriguez, who is trained by Bob Baffert, missed both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness with a foot injury.
