The Chicago Bears caught some strays on Thursday after the announcement of Pope Leo XIV as the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Pope Leo XIV was formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, a native of Chicago.

And everyone on social media hopped onto the same joke:

Chicago produced a Pope before a QB who throws for 4000 yards.

Pope Leo XIV is the first pope from the United States.

The Bears, meanwhile, are hoping 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams can finally end that mark of passing futility.

Leo XIV has been reported as a Cubs fan, but whether or not he's a Bears fan is less certain.

Chicago faithful will gladly claim him as their own regardless.

There have probably been plenty of prayers prayed over the years for the Bears to get some help at quarterback.

Williams threw for 3,541 yards as a rookie.

Erik Kramer holds the record with 3,838, and Jay Cutler has the Nos. 2-4 spots on the list ahead of Williams' rookie season in fifth.

Maybe now that the Vatican features a Chicagoan as pope, the Bears will figure out their quarterback woes once and for all.
