The last remaining big domino to fall in NFL free agency revolves around legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Pittsburgh Steelers are believed to be his last remaining suitor, and to this point, they haven't truly addressed their quarterback spot, leaving many to believe that if Rodgers plays football next season, it will be with the Steelers.
Pittsburgh allowed Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to depart in free agency, putting all of their eggs in Rodgers' basket. The initial expectation was that they would know what Rodgers' plans for the future were before the 2025 NFL draft, but that didn't happen, leaving the team in limbo.
The Steelers ultimately ended up passing on Shedeur Sanders several times, and instead selected Will Howard in the sixth round. While that could have been taken as an indication Pittsburgh was close to signing Rodgers, one NFL insider insisted that isn't the case.
"I still think he's deliberating, and from what I gather, Pittsburgh knows no more now than they did at the draft or before the draft," Peter Schrager said on "The Pat McAfee Show."

He returned to action for the Jets in 2024, throwing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns while playing in all 17 games. The team won only five games, though, and with a new regime in place, they opted to release Rodgers.
Now, Rodgers' future is up in the air, and it seems like he will either play for the Steelers in 2025 or retire. For now, nobody knows what the future Hall of Famer is planning to do, including Pittsburgh, and they remain in a tough spot as they wait for a decisive answer from Rodgers on what his plans are.
