Bears predicted to sign $55 million edge rusher as running mate for Montez Sweat

The Chicago Bears entered the offseason with a need opposite Montez Sweat that they have yet to fill.

While Bears fans were hoping for a big splash via signing Trey Hendrickson or trading for Maxx Crosby, both of those options are no longer available.

Luckily, there is still a very good option available in free agency and it comes in the former of New Orleans Saints free agent, Cam Jordan, who The Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer predicts will land in Chicago.

"He should try to reunite with Dennis Allen to finish his career," Iyer said of Jordan to the Bears.

Jordan, who played out the final year of his $55 million contract with the Saints in 2025, is easily the best edge rusher left in free agency.

While he's long in the tooth at 36 years old, Jordan showed he's got plenty left in the tank after posting 10.5 sacks in 2025 in what was a resurgent season for him.

Jordan has left the door open to returning to the only team he has ever played for, but the eight-time Pro Bowler has also made it clear he is open to signing elsewhere.

"Of course, I'd love to be in New Orleans, but at the same time, if the cents doesn't make sense, then we have to find our own path," Jordan said.

Spotrac projects Jordan will land a one-year, $6.7 million deal, which would be ideal for a Bears team that is just barely under the cap at $493,528.

But we believe that projection is simply too low for what Jordan produced in 2025 and we could see him getting closer to $10 million on a one-year deal, even at this late stage in free agency.

If the Bears can find a way to make it work, Jordan would be a perfect one-year solution along the edge in Chicago.
