Lane Kiffin adds Lamar Jackson's QB coach to LSU staff

Tee Martin is heading back to the SEC.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the former Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach is being hired by Lane Kiffin as an offensive analyst for the LSU Tigers

This is an underrated move for Kiffin, who is reunited with the former Vols QB in Baton Rouge. The two have crossed paths before at USC. Martin was Kiffin's assistant during a seven-year stint from 2012-18. From there, Martin was held over after Kiffin was fired in Los Angeles.

What makes this a significant addition is Martin's background. He spent the last three seasons working with the Baltimore Ravens as a QB coach for Lamar Jackson. New head coach Jesse Minter chose not to retain him during the transition. As an analyst, Martin will add another offensive mind and help guide Sam Leavitt's progression toward the NFL after this season.

As a quarterback at Tennessee in the late 90s, he led the program to a national championship in 1998, earning First-Team All-SEC honors. Over his college career, Martin threw for 4,592 yards and 32 touchdowns, putting in work directly after Peyton Manning's exit to the NFL.

Martin spent six seasons between the NFL and CFL under center. He moved into coaching immediately and has been a mainstay ever since, including stints at New Mexico and Kentucky.

Considering Martin makes the jump from the NFL to college right away, this adds to what Kiffin is trying to do for LSU. He brings valuable insight to a program looking to be competitive at the highest level following the firing of Brian Kelly and now Kiffin's first year.

LSU has huge expectations, but it's expected with NIL roster spending reportedly above $40 million this year. There's no time to wait and see for Kiffin.
