Chicago Bears already have a playoff ticket punched but head coach Ben Johnson has zero interest in coasting into January. After an exhausting 42–38 loss to the San Francisco 49ers yesterday, many assumed Week 18 would be about rest and preservation.

Not so fast. Asked whether starters would sit against the eliminated Detroit Lions, Johnson:

“We’re playing to win this week.”

That all but confirms Caleb Williams will take the field along with stars like DJ Moore, D’Andre Swift, and Jaylon Johnson. The Bears are cruising with an 11–5 record this season with the NFC North title secured. However, Johnson is clearly prioritizing rhythm, momentum, and accountability over rest.

Week 18 isn’t a tune-up anymore. It’s a statement with Johnson and Williams right in the middle of it.
