Australia vs India 2025, 2nd T20I: Toss result and playing 11s for today’s match, umpires list and pitch report

Team India are taking on Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the second T20I of the five-match series. Both sides will be looking to take the lead in the series after the opening match in Canberra ended in no result due to rain.

In the 9.4 overs of play that was possible in the opening T20I, the visitors did reasonably well after being asked to bat. They reached 97-1 when no further play was possible. Abhishek Sharma hit four fours before being dismissed for 19 off 14. Shubman Gill (37* off 20) and Suryakumar Yadav (39* off 24) spend some valuable time at the crease.

Team India again left out Arshdeep Singh, their leading wicket-taker in T20Is, from the playing XI for the first match in Canberra. The Indian management preferred Harshit Rana, which puzzled a few experts and fans as well.

Australia have won the toss and have opted to bowl first. Mitchell Marsh said:

“[The surface] looks a good one, hopefully it won't change for 40 overs.”

Australia have made one change - Matthew Short comes into the playing XI for Josh Phillipe. India are going in with an unchanged side.
