Astros slugger reportedly being viewed as a trade target for the Red Sox after earning his second All-Star nod last season

The Boston Red Sox have shown interest in multiple players around the league and it could put the Houston Astros in an interesting spot with Isaac Paredes.

Paredes is a decent player and was great in 2025, posting a 123 OPS+ and earning his second All-Star nod.

On the surface, it wouldn’t make sense to trade him.

However, according to CBS Sports’ Mike Axisa, Boston is interested in a trade for the right-handed slugger.

“The Red Sox continue to pursue another bat for the infield even after trading for Willson Contreras, according to the Boston Globe. Among their targets are Cardinals super utility man Brendan Donovan, Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte, Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes, and free agents Bo Bichette and Alex Bregman. Bregman spent 2025 with Boston,” he wrote.

Paredes is a controllable infielder who provides power for a lineup that’s already not great.

The Astros are in a weird spot regarding their farm system, so that’s something to monitor. However, the reality is that Houston won’t get back a perfect return for Paredes. Sure, he isn’t a free agent until 2028, but the Red Sox or any other team doesn’t have much of a reason to move a haul for him.
