The New York Yankees haven't done much this offseason, not being involved in the top of the free agent or trade market so far.

But they have added a few players. While he's not the biggest offseason signing, the Yankees did sign a veteran infielder to give Aaron Boone some key depth for the 2026 season.

And now, a few days before New Year's, the Yankees have officially announced this singing of veteran free agent infielder Amed Rosario. He's back on a one-year deal in New York.

Yankees make FA signing of veteran infielder official

"The New York Yankees today announced that they have re-signed infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario to a one-year Major League contract for the 2026 season," the Yankees announced Tuesday.

Rosario is a 30-year-old infielder who can play a few different positions, but for the Yankees, as he did in 2025, he'll likely play a combination of third base, second base, outfield, and potentially even some shortstop.

Anthony Volpe will miss the start of the 2026 season, so Rosario can provide some decent depth as the Yankees await their young shortstop to come back.

This past season, Rosaio played in just 16 games for the Yankees. But, he hit .303 with a solid .788 OPS for the Yankees as a depth bat.

He's not going to be an everyday starter for the Yankees, but as a depth addition for the infield and outfield, Rosario is a quality pickup for the Yankees.

Now that the singing is made official by the Yankees, the team's depth is a lot better off than it was at the start of the offseason.

The nine-year journeyman infielder/outfielder is a solid one-year signing for the Yankees. Rosario will join the Yankees team as a key depth piece as the front office tries to keep payroll down this winter.
