The Edmonton Oilers secured a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory against the Carolina Hurricanes at Lenovo Center on Saturday night. Oilers Leon Draisaitl scored the game-winning goal just 19 seconds into overtime assisted by Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard.

McDavid contributed two goals and an assist, while Draisaitl added two assists in addition to his decisive OT tally.

Back home, Draisaitl’s wife Celeste Desjardins shared a heartwarming moment on Instagram featuring a tender gesture amid a busy road trip for the star forward. She posted a story showing a bouquet of white roses accompanied by a note from her husband, which read: “I’m so proud of you, Lanny. I love you.”

“Angel hubby,” Celeste captioned the story.

The Oilers’ victory on the road was a team effort. Zach Hyman returned to the lineup contributing an assist and 11 hits over 23:10 of ice time. Jack Roslovic opened the scoring, followed by McDavid on the power play. Carolina clawed back to tie the game late in the third period but Draisaitl’s OT heroics sealed the win, part of their seven straight road games from Nov 12 through Nov 22.

Leon Draisaitl's wife penned special tribute on his 30th birthday

Earlier last month, Leon Draisaitl received a heartfelt online tribute as his wife Celeste Desjardins. She wished him on his 30th birthday with a sentimental set of Instagram posts that also revisited their romantic French wedding.

Celeste shared a black-and-white throwback photo of the pair slow dancing during the afterparty.

“Happy 30th birthday to my best friend. You make life so much more fun!” Celeste captioned the story.

She followed it with a full carousel of candid images from their summer ceremony in Provence, France.

“Happy 30th Birthday my love! ❤️” she wrote in the caption.

The carousel featured a series of warm personal snapshots. One of the pictures saw the couple laughing together beside a garden fountain walking hand-in-hand down a tree-lined pathway, and enjoying a quiet moment before the ceremony inside the chateau. Draisaitl had worn a classic black tuxedo and bow tie while Celeste was dressed in a strapless gown with a flowing train.

Another set of photos captured the newlyweds at their lively afterparty. Draisaitl was seen holding a drink and Celeste had changed into a short white lace dress.

The pair, who began dating in 2018, had gotten engaged during a July 2024 trip to Mallorca, Spain. They later exchanged vows in the French countryside the following summer surrounded by close family and Oilers teammates.
