AJ Styles' WWE career is set to end sometime in 2026, and a major name recently claimed that The Phenomenal One wrestled his last tag team match with Dragon Lee for a major reason.
The New Day's Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have targeted Styles and Lee for a long time on the red brand, as the legendary tag team wants to recapture the World Tag Team Championship. While The New Day got a title shot, the duo failed to become the new champions.
After a recent live event in Fort Myers, The New Day's Xavier Woods, in kayfabe, tweeted on X/Twitter that this was the final time when Lee teamed up with AJ Styles in a tag team match, as The Phenomenal One can no longer hang in the tag team division while the villainous duo is still around.
"From last night after our match in Fort Myers. Dragon bows to Aj in what will be the last time they team up. Because even Dragon knows that Aj can't hang in the @wwe tag division while we are still in it," Woods tweeted on X/Twitter.The comment was made in kayfabe as Lee and Styles scored a win over The New Day and The War Raiders in a Triple Threat tag team match.
Who can retire AJ Styles from WWE in 2026?
Lately, AJ Styles has reflected on his career as an in-ring performer, and The Phenomenal One decided to set an end date on his career in the Stamford-based promotion. During the company's visit to Perth for WWE Crown Jewel, the Men's Grand Slam Champion revealed that he plans to retire sometime in 2026.
While the date wasn't confirmed, he addressed his future ahead of his final-ever match with John Cena. After The Franchise Player retired from in-ring competition at Saturday Night's Main Event, Gunther crossed paths with The Phenomenal One and mocked him before he left the arena.
The management is yet to plan AJ Styles' last-ever run in the Stamford-based promotion. Meanwhile, the management could pick Gunther as AJ Styles' last-ever opponent in WWE, similar to Goldberg and John Cena.
