Following the conclusion of Worlds End 2025, the Jacksonville-based promotion announced a major update to its weekly programming schedule. The temporary schedule shift was designed to capitalize on the festive season and provide fans with special holiday-themed programming. With the holiday period now over, Tony Khan's promotion will revert to its standard weekly structure.
#3. Dustin Rhodes plans to retire from wrestling in the next two years
Dustin Rhodes has revealed that he intends to retire from in-ring competition within the next two years. The former TNT champion, who has enjoyed a career spanning several decades, shared that he is already planning for life after wrestling, including launching a podcast while responding to a fan question on X. Interestingly, the Natural made it a point to emphasize that his podcast focuses on positive storytelling rather than criticizing others in the industry.
"Yes! When I retire in a couple, I plan on it. What I won't do is talk bad about people in the biz. Too many podcaster/wrestlers talk sh*t about our brothers and sisters," Dustin wrote.Yes! When I retire in a couple, I plan on it. What I won't do is talk bad about people in the biz. Too many podcaster/wrestlers talk shit about our brothers and sisters
Rhodes is currently recovering from double knee replacement surgery, a procedure undertaken to address the physical toll of his long career. His most recent match took place in July 2025, when he lost the TNT Championship to Kyle Fletcher in a Chicago Street Fight.
#2. Ricochet to defend National Title against Jack Perry following shocking loss at Worlds End
Ricochet experienced a difficult moment at Worlds End during the Zero Hour pre-show, despite entering the event as the inaugural AEW National Champion. Teaming with the Gates of Agony, the Future of Flight lost to JetSpeed and Jurassic Express. The defeat was underscored by Jack Perry scoring a direct pinfall over Ricochet, making the outcome particularly notable given their ongoing rivalry.
Following the result, the Jacksonville-based promotion announced Ricochet’s next major challenge on X. It was confirmed that Ricochet will defend the National Championship against Jack Perry on the upcoming New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite.
"This Wednesday, 12/31! Celebrate the New Year with us at AEW with a special #AEWDynamite! New Year's Smash KICKS OFF at 8/7c on @TBSNetwork + @SportsOnMAX, NEW YEAR'S EVE!," AEW on X#1. AEW star Bille Starkz calls Jon Moxley a "GOAT" following Continental Championship victory
Jon Moxley closed out Worlds End 2025 by capturing the AEW Continental Championship, solidifying his place atop the promotion’s competitive landscape. Moxley defeated Kyle Fletcher in the tournament semi-finals before going on to overcome Kazuchika Okada in the final. The victory marked the culmination of the Continental Classic and added another accolade to the Purveyor of Violence's already extensive resume.
Following his championship win, the One True King received a new nickname from fellow wrestler Billie Starkz, who referred to him as the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time) in a post on X.
For those unaware, Moxley entered 2025 dealing with multiple injuries, yet he chose to continue competing weekly rather than taking time off. He appeared to become healthier as the year progressed through consistent competition. It will be interesting to see what Tony Khan has planned for his superstar in 2026.
