Adam Copeland has been absent from AEW for an extended period. However, the wait to see the Rated-R superstar back in the mix could end soon following a big title change, and Cope might not just return alone, but with two of his trusted allies.
The aforementioned stars, who are close to Adam Copeland in real life, are his wife, Beth Copeland, and best friend, Christian Cage. The WWE Hall of Famer and The Patriarch teamed up to successfully pick up the win over FTR at All Out 2025 in their hometown of Toronto, Canada. The night also saw the debut of Cope's wife, Beth Copeland, who received a huge pop.
However, things took a turn for the worse as FTR took out Beth Copeland with a piledriver combination move right in front of a handcuffed Cope. On the following edition of Dynamite, the 11-time World Champion told Christian Cage that he was leaving AEW and might not return. At the same time, Cage himself has not been seen on television since Cope's hiatus.
On the other hand, FTR members Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood defeated JetSpeed, Jurassic Express, and The Young Bucks on the AEW Fright Night Dynamite episode to earn an AEW World Tag Team title match against Brodido at Full Gear 2025. This could see them defeat Bandido and Brody King and become new champions.

However, the night could set the tone for a reunited front of Cope, Christian Cage, and Beth Copeland to make their return as a cohesive unit and extract payback from FTR. Moreover, it could even lead to a future tag team title match between both sides, which would be a blockbuster showdown for any major AEW event.
Tony Khan provided an update on Adam Copeland's absence
Adam Copeland left AEW in storyline to film the season finale of his popular series, Percy Jackson. Tony Khan recently revealed that he is busy filming at the moment and is expected to return to the company once he is done with the project.
“Adam’s out filming right now. He’s a huge star in AEW. We love having Adam Copeland, The Rated-R Superstar in AEW and I’m excited for him to be back in AEW, hopefully soon after this project is done, and he’s taking care of business and then Adam will come back and we’ll get Adam Copeland taking care of the business in the ring in AEW," Tony said.If Cope returns with his two most trusted people, it will be interesting to see how this new alliance runs in AEW.
