Jim Harbaugh has led the LA Chargers to the playoffs for the second consecutive season since leaving Michigan in January 2024. Nonetheless, Southeastern Conference analyst Paul Finebaum opened up about Michigan's current search for a coach, but suggested that few coaches would want the job given the state of the program when Harbaugh left.

On Sunday, Finebaum appeared on the "The Matt Barrie Show" podcast,
“Why would anyone want that job?” Finebaum said. “There’s simply no leadership there, there’s no alignment, and the stench of the Harbaugh regime permeates the air in Ann Arbor. And it’s made it more difficult. “They needed a Kalen DeBoer or a Dillingham, but they’re not going to get either one, so good for them.”Harbaugh left Michigan after winning the national title in the 2023 season. However, the Wolverines' success was marred by a sign-stealing scandal that drew controversy.
Michigan hired Harbaugh before the 2015 season. He compiled an 86-25 record during his time at Ann Arbor.
Sherrone Moore was hired as Harbaugh's successor. However, Moore was fired by Michigan on Dec. 10 for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
