Atlanta Hawks Make Roster Move Before Facing Chicago Bulls

The Atlanta Hawks have added a center to their roster ahead of the Tuesday night matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

According to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk, the Hawks are picking up Malik Williams. He is reportedly signing a two-way contract, allowing him to continue playing for the College Park Skyhawks in the NBA G League unless called up.

The 27-year-old center is from Indiana. He spent his college years playing for Louisville, where he spent four seasons. Throughout his college career, Williams appeared in 95 games. He started 37 of those matchups, seeing the court for 15.8 minutes per game.

By the end of Williams’ college career, he averaged 6.5 points (43 percent shooting from the field), along with 4.9 rebounds per game.

Entering the NBA in 2022, Williams went undrafted. Since he didn’t land on an NBA team initially, he went overseas to play in Poland. The Sioux Falls Skyforce offered him his first opportunity in the NBA G League. In April 2024, Williams signed a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors before landing an end-of-season deal when it was up.

When Williams entered the 2024-2025 season, he returned to the G League, where he continued to play for the Miami Heat’s affiliate. In September of 2025, he joined the Hawks’ affiliate for the first time.

With the Skyhawks, Williams started in 11 of 14 games. He saw the court for 27.4 minutes per game. The veteran center shot 41 percent from the field and knocked down 33 percent of his threes (6.9 attempts per game). Williams averaged 16.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in the developmental league.

During his seven-game showing with the Raptors at the main level in 2023-2024, Williams posted averages of 2.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 15.2 minutes of action.

The Hawks and the Bulls are slated for a 7:30 PM ET tip on Tuesday night.
