"About to give is nightmares", "Give us the 2-0 loss already" - Fans slam Amorim for inclusion of Manchester United star for Aston Villa clash

Manchester United fans on X (formerly Twitter) are slamming Ruben Amorim for starting Manuel Ugarte in their Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

Amorim has stuck with Senne Lammens in goal, with Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Luke Shaw in the backline. The manager has made forced change with Amad Diallo out, and he has gone with Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu are the wing-backs.

The midfield sees an interesting change, with Manuel Ugarte coming in for suspended Casemiro, who partners with Bruno Fernandes. Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha are the attacking midfielders, with Benjamin Sesko starting as the striker.

The starting XI is mostly as expected for Manchester United fans, but Ugarte starting the match has led to several fans see their confidence levels drop. They posted:

Kobbie Mainoo was expected to start today, but the Englishman reportedly picked up an injury in training. Amorim spoke about the midfielder and said:

“He got an injury in the last training. After training, he went to the doctor and he has something in his calf. We are going to assess but he is out of this game. It isn’t just bad for the team but for him, this problem is a reminder that we just focus on what we can control and leave the rest to destiny. He will be fine in a few weeks.”

Mainoo was also in the news last week after his brother wore a 'Free Kobbie Mainoo' shirt to Old Trafford, but the Manchester United manager has brushed it aside. He said:

"No, was not Kobbie that wore the t-shirt, he’s not going to start because of the t-shirt and he’s not going to the bench because of the t-shirt. He will play if we feel he’s the right guys. I’m used to it, I’ve been here for a year. I’m not going to do something to Kobbie because someone on his family did something. If he is the right guy he is going to play."

Manchester United start the game 7th in the Premier League and can jump to fifth with a win.

Manchester United manager not ruling out Aston Villa from title race

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that Aston Villa are very much in the Premier League title race this season. He believes that Unai Emery's side are doing well and said:

"Everything can happen. They have a manager with a lot of experience, when you watch Villa you can sense it’s a very mature team, they don’t panic when they’re losing, don’t feel overwhelmed when winning, they can control the emotion all the time. They are a very strong team. If they fight to the end I don’t know."

Manchester United have two wins and two draws in their last five Premier League matches this season.
