At this point, the expectation is that Aaron Rodgers is either going to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers or retire.
That's because the future Hall of Famer doesn't really have any other clear options after a week-plus of free agency.
The Minnesota Vikings were long viewed as a possible landing spot for him, but the signing of Kyler Murray puts that scenario to bed.
As we continue to wait on Rodgers' looming career decision, Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom heard from an unnamed NFL executive that perhaps he would consider signing with the Las Vegas Raiders.
“He either goes back to Pittsburgh or maybe he tries to get something done with Tom Brady (in Las Vegas), or he hangs it up," the exec told La Canfora. "He wants to be a starter. It’s down to those two teams… and that’s if the Raiders really (want) him. It’s Pittsburgh or nothing, how I see it.”
There is just no way a Rodgers-Raiders pairing happens, and for multiple reasons.
The Raiders are primed to draft Fernando Mendoza in the 2026 NFL draft and we would be surprised if the Indiana product isn't the Week 1 starter.
Knowing that, there is no clear path to a starting job in Las Vegas and there is zero chance Rodgers will take a backup job.
Even if Mendoza isn't ready to start, the veteran won't be keen on signing with a team that could replace him during the campaign if things go south.
Another reason Rodgers won't join the Raiders is because Las Vegas is a rebuilding team that has a lackluster supporting cast on offense, and the team gives him no shot to win.
Granted, the Steelers aren't exactly a Super Bowl contender, but they do offer a better shot at the playoffs in 2026 than the Raiders.
As far as we're concerned, it's Steelers or bust for Rodgers.
