A beloved WWE star has confirmed that he has hung up his wrestling boots for good and that he has no desire to step inside the squared circle ever again. In his appearance on the Talk is Jericho podcast, D-Von Dudley confirmed that Bound for Glory 2025 marked his swan song and that he has bid goodbye to wrestling.
Dudley is among the most respected tag team wrestlers in WWE history, having won the Tag Team Titles a staggering 9 times with Bully Ray. He capped off his incredible career with Ray on his side in a match against their legendary rivals, The Hardy Boyz, at TNA Bound for Glory 2025 in October this year.
In a chat with Chris Jericho on his Talk is Jericho podcast, D-Von Dudley revealed that he was unsatisfied with how his WWE career panned out in the end. He added that he had the itch to wrap up things on a memorable note and that the tag team contest at Bound for Glory 2025 served as the perfect sendoff.
"I'm happy. What a way to go out. When we left WWE, I thought it was a crappy way, the way we left and the 1000th episode, I still wasn't satisfied. And this actually got rid of everything in the basement. Anything I had in there, I felt I needed to get out; that was it. And for me to go out on that note, there's no need for me to come back anymore. I think this was it. This was actually it for me," said D-Von Dudley. A few weeks back, D-Von Dudley disclosed that he had conversations with Tony Khan and AEW regarding working for the company as a producer. Dudley added that things ultimately didn't work out as Khan wanted him to do more than just work behind the scenes by stepping inside the ring for a couple of matches.
“I was looking to become a producer. I wasn’t looking to become a wrestler...I expressed to Tony that I didn’t wanna wrestle. He kept trying to push it. He would have loved me to go out there and do a couple of things, maybe be a manager and maybe even do a six-man tag match," said D-Von.D-Von Dudley has worked for WWE as a producer in the past, and it remains to be seen if he explores a similar role now that he's finished up his in-ring career.
