76ers scheduled for special clash against Knicks before next NBA season tips off

As the Philadelphia 76ers prepare for what could possibly be a busy offseason, it is also time to look ahead to next season. The 2024-25 NBA season was a forgettable one in Philadelphia. That doesn't mean they can't gain some excitement for their fanbase during a time where they were expected to be playing in the postseason.

The 76ers have announced they will be heading to the Middle East to play in a special preseason game against the New York Knicks. Their preseason games will take place on Oct. 2 and 4 in Abu Dhabi. This marks the fourth year in a row the league will play preseason games there. These games will be at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

Many teams have already visited the Middle East to begin their preseason games. In addition to teams like the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets making the trip recently, USA Basketball also visited Abu Dhabi for games before the 2023 Basketball World Cup took place in the Philippines and also the 2024 Paris Olympics.

While this will be huge exposure for the 76ers organization, fans will probably be wondering who will be in uniform for these games. If their three stars Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey are healthy, these matchups could be a lot of fun.

A healthy 76ers team has a few stars to showcase to the world. The Knicks do as well with the Clutch Player of the Year Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. As the collaboration between the NBA and Abu Dhabi, these games have been garnering a lot of attention on social media.

It's also a way to present the stars of the league over in Asia in pursuit to continue to grow the game of basketball everywhere. Especially, during a time where the viewership is down.
