How to watch Alief Elsik vs. Katy in Texas high school softball playoff series

Katy capped a sterling regular season with an extra-inning win against one of the top softball teams in Texas.

The Tigers now get set for what they hope is a long run through the UIL 6A Division I playoffs. Their first test comes Thursday evening in a best-of-three bi-district series against Alief Elsik.

Katy will host the first game before the second game is played Friday at Elsik. If necessary, a third game takes place back at Katy on Saturday morning.

The Tigers go into the postseason with a 32-1 record. On Tuesday, they avenged their lone regular-season defeat, winning 3-2 in 10 innings at Barbers Hill.

Ella Kate Smith had the game-winning hit in the top of the 10th, driving home Avery Porter, who started the inning placed on second base and went 2-for-4 on the day. Smith was also the winning pitcher, going all 10 innings and giving up just one hit and no earned runs, striking out 14.

Elsik comes into the postseason at 6-12 overall, and the Rams finished fourth in their district. Catherine Vasquez, a junior, leads Elsik in hitting at .548 along with hits (23), runs scored (15) and slugging percentage (.810).
