After showcasing his talents in Cleveland and Utah, Collin Sexton came to the Charlotte Hornets this season as LaMelo Ball's newest running mate. Though the eight-year veteran remains a steady contributor, it appears that his time in Charlotte will soon come to an end.
According to a new report by Jake Fischer, the Hornets front office is considering the possibility of trading away Sexton as it positions itself for a shot at a postseason trip.
"Sources say that the Hornets, furthermore, are also open for business to a degree, but that might only mean shopping veteran guard Collin Sexton as Charlotte, sporting the league's longest playoff drought at nine seasons and counting, clings to hope that it can still be a Play-In team," Fischer wrote.•

5 ideal trade destinations for Collin Sexton as Hornets test market for athletic guard
LA Clippers
NBA: Los Angeles Clippers at Houston Rockets - Source: ImagnIf there's any team that should be first in line for Sexton, it's the Clippers, who are currently languishing in the Western Conference standings. Not only would Sexton be able to provide immediate help for the Clips this season, but the 26-year-old would also help inject young blood into an aging roster.
Dallas Mavericks
NBA: Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Pelicans - Source: ImagnThe Mavericks are reportedly shipping several assets as they transition into a rebuilding phase centered on Cooper Flagg. A trade for Sexton would make sense for the Mavs, as he's a veteran who can take care of primary ball-handling duties and allow Flagg to concentrate on scoring duties.
Minnesota Timberwolves
NBA: Phoenix Suns at Minnesota Timberwolves - Source: ImagnAs per additional reporting by Fischer, the Timberwolves have "conducted some diligence" on Sexton. Anthony Edwards could use some more help in the backcourt, and Sexton can provide that assistance.
Houston Rockets
NBA: Houston Rockets at Sacramento Kings - Source: ImagnPrior to the start of the season, Bill Simmons floated the idea of the Rockets acquiring Sexton to fill the void left by Fred VanVleet. At this point, this idea still makes sense, as Sexton gives Houston even more depth for their playoff push.
Cleveland Cavaliers
NBA: Chicago Bulls at Cleveland Cavaliers - Source: ImagnDarius Garland is reportedly on the trading block as the Cavaliers look for ways to win more consistently. The Hornets could end up being trade partner, sending Sexton back to the team that drafted him in 2018.
