49ers urged to fix 1 massive problem for Brock Purdy

1 hour ago 2

The San Francisco 49ers' offseason shopping list should be easy enough to figure out.

With Christian McCaffrey leading the offense in yards, targets, and receptions, it shows that the 49ers need more weapons.

Plus, only one receiver (Jauan Jennings) was in the top three for yards, with McCaffrey and tight end George Kittle rounding it out.

Kendrick Bourne and Ricky Pearsall need help, and Purdy needs a consistent outlet in the passing game, preferably one who can be a difference maker.

And for ESPN's Nick Wagoner, that's exactly what San Francisco needs to get this offseason.

"Find a difference-making wide receiver," Wagoner wrote. "The 49ers are all but certain to move on from Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings is a free agent and Ricky Pearsall has struggled to stay healthy. Don't be surprised if the Niners are in the mix for a big-name free agent or if they dedicate valuable draft resources to the position."

Who should 49ers target?

There are a host of options, and it is a matter of how much the 49ers want to spend.

A.J. Brown is an option, so too George Pickens if things fall through with his talks, but the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will be unlikely to trade their stud weapon to a direct NFC rival.

So, what about Indianapolis Colts receiver Alec Pierce? Set to be roughly $20 million APY according to Spotrac.com, he wouldn't bust the budget, and he would give Purdy a genuine deep threat on every play.

The draft is also in play, but the 49ers need a big splash here.

Let's see if they make one.
