The San Francisco 49ers, entering a Week 18 matchup at home against the Seattle Seahawks, will be fighting for a chance to clinch the NFC West, the NFC's top seed, and a first-round bye.
There's no bigger matchup than this one, as it's the difference between a road playoff game or home field advantage throughout the playoffs. For the 49ers, there's one big concern entering this matchup: George Kittle's status for Week 18.
But, Underdog NFL shared an update from 49ers' John Lynch, which is some very good news on Kittle's status update for Week 18 against the Seahawks in the game of the year.

"49ers would be 'very surprised,' if George Kittle (ankle) doesn't play in Week 18," according to an update from Lynch.
This update on Kittle is a great sign. While this isn't confirming that Kittle will be active for Week 18 against the Seahawks, it's a clear indication of his status.
Barring a surprise, the 49ers are expecting Kittle to be able to play in Week 18, as the superstar tight end missed Week 17 with an ankle injury he sustained in Week 16.
The winner of this Week 18 matchup will secure a significant advantage on the road to the Super Bowl. Not only do they win the NFC West, but they move to the Divisional round automatically.
Kittle has missed a lot of time this season, being absent from Weeks 2 through 6, then coming back for nine games before missing Week 17.
Fortunately, Jake Tonges filled in nicely and helped the 49ers win in a barn-burner against the Chicago Bears to keep their NFC West and NFC hopes alive.
Set to play in Week 18 now, after this positive update from Lynch, Kittle will look to add to his season totals of 52 receptions for 599 yards and seven touchdowns.
While he's missed too much time to put up a career year, his per-game statistics are some of the best in the NFL among receivers this season, and his impact on the 49ers offense is massive.
Getting him back is huge for the 49ers, and based on this update from Lynch, the superstar, beloved tight end looks good to go for Week 18 against the Seahawks for a winner-takes-all NFC West showdown.
