WWE and AEW are, without a doubt, two of the leading pro-wrestling brands in North America today. All Elite Wrestling has come a long way since its foundation back in 2019, thanks in no small part to the efforts of its talent, especially those who have been with the company since its early days.
One such day-one All Elite name, Anna Jay, could soon be parting ways with the Tony Khan-led company, as recent reports indicate that her contract with the promotion could expire in the "next few months". If the 27-year-old star is let go by AEW, WWE should consider offering her a deal and signing her. Let us explore three reasons why that should be the case.
# 1: WWE may offer Anna Jay better developmental training than AEW did
Anna Jay began her journey inside the squared circle in 2019, competing in indie promotions such as Georgia Pro Wrestling and Empower Wrestling before signing with AEW in 2020. Over the next five years, The Queen Slayer was featured regularly on the company's weekly television programs, Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision, as well as on its YouTube streaming shows, Dark and Dark: Elevation. She has wrestled multiple top names like Hikaru Shida, Jade Cargill, Julia Hart, Kris Statlander, and Mercedes Mone, and has challenged for both the TBS and the Women's World Championships.
Alongside her partner, Tay Melo, Anna competed in the quarterfinal round of the ongoing AEW Women's Tag Team Title Tournament but was unfortunately knocked out by Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir this week. The loss led many viewers to speculate on the possible absence of serious long-term developmental plans for Jay in All Elite Wrestling, especially vis-à-vis the upper card. If the company does not retain her services, WWE could make an offer to the Georgia-native, including an initial stint in NXT, the Stamford-based promotion's developmental brand.
AEW's women's division is arguably too stacked right now to afford Anna the kind of upward career trajectory she may be looking for. On the other hand, Jay would no doubt benefit greatly from being around the seasoned producers and veterans at WWE's performance centre and those running NXT, where she could also cross paths with a former foe.
# 2: Anna Jay could resume her rivalry with Blake Monroe (fka Mariah May)
Before signing with WWE, Blake Monroe enjoyed a brief but successful run in AEW under her former ring name, Mariah May. During her tenure at the Jacksonville-based company, she squared off against Anna Jay one-on-one on five occasions in 2024. While the former Jericho Appreciation Society member did score one upset victory over Mariah in a Women's World Title Eliminator bout, it was May who won their four other singles matches.

If Anna Jay does end up leaving AEW, and if the Triple H-led promotion subsequently signs her, she could very well rekindle her feud with the Englishwoman and challenge her for her title. Even if she is not booked to unseat Monroe, a high-profile rivalry with her would certainly raise Jay's stock in WWE greatly.
# 3: WWE could use Anna Jay in TNA
Towards the beginning of this year, WWE announced a strategic partnership with TNA, resulting in talent from both companies being featured on the other's programming. Recently, the two companies even presented a cross-promotional television special, NXT vs. TNA Showdown, which featured two title bouts and two Survivor Series-style Elimination Matches pitting stars from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling against competitors from NXT.

WWE's collaboration with TNA has allowed its talent to hone their craft alongside and against a much wider range of opponents. If Anna Jay leaves AEW and signs with WWE, she could enjoy the perks of this partnership and appear on more than one television program every week by performing in NXT and in TNA, where she could make her official debut.
