WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler recently revealed that he may have one more in-ring outing in him. The 76-year-old stated that despite his health issues, he has not ruled out having one more match.

The King is currently signed to the Stamford-based promotion under a legends contract. With the veteran expressing his desire to lace up his wrestling boots one last time, let's look at three reasons why he must return to WWE for it.

#3. Jerry Lawler has not had a proper retirement match in WWE

Although Lawler had been active on the independent circuit, his last WWE match came over a decade ago on the September 10, 2012, episode of Monday Night RAW. He teamed up with Randy Orton to defeat CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler in a tag team match.

The veteran has yet to have a proper retirement match, and if he is willing to step into the squared circle one more time, it should happen in the global juggernaut.

#2. It could be a great one-time event in Memphis

During the territorial days of professional wrestling, Jerry Lawler's popularity in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, was second to none. The veteran began his career from there and dominated the local promotions, earning the nickname "The King of Memphis."

WWE regularly hosts shows in Memphis, and Jerry Lawler's retirement match could become a massive attraction for the local crowd. It could be an episode of RAW or SmackDown, or a Saturday Night's Main Event.

#1. Another victim for Gunther

Gunther has retired both Goldberg and John Cena. After making The Cenation Leader tap out in his last match, The Ring General has become arguably the most hated name in the wrestling world.

If Jerry "The King" Lawler returns for a final match, he could be a perfect addition to the Austrian star's list of legends that he sent into retirement. Brutally destroying a 76-year-old veteran would generate even more heat on the former Imperium leader.
