10 Best base locations in ARK Survival Ascended Lost Colony map

ARK Survival Ascended’s Lost Colony expansion introduced a new map in the game. It’s the first story DLC for the game, featuring snowy mountains, gothic cathedrals, and lots of creatures to tame. The map itself is big and is a visual eyecandy, but don’t get fooled by its beauty, as it also contains a variety of deadly creatures.

To survive, you’ll want to build a base, and this article lists 10 locations on the Lost Colony map, Arat Prime, in ARK Survival Ascended, that you can use for your base.

Note: This list is subjective, as there are many more spots to build a base.

1) Lakeside View (69.6 latitude, 4.2 longitude)

A base on a lake is probably the safest place you can pick in ARK Survival Ascended. There are two small islands to choose from, and there is a decent amount of resources, both inside the lake and in the surrounding area, with plenty of wildlife.

2) Hot Springs (83.9 latitude, 6.6 longitude)

You may not be the only one to think about building around the hot spring showcased in the Lost Colony trailer of ARK Survival Ascended. It’s one of the few places with little to no snow, giving you a full view of the beautiful surroundings. The best part is that there are a lot of spots to pick from.

3) Hanging Garden (91.8 latitude, 41.4 longitude)

If you were planning to make a base around the new glowing forest biomes, then this place may be the best pick. Located near a cliff, this place offers a view of the entire map and features emerald-colored crystals that look incredible at night. There’s a pathway that leads to the mountain where you can find loads of resources.

4) Snow Cave (85.2 latitude, 76.6 longitude)

There are many caves across Arat Prime, but only a few have enough room to build a proper cave. This one is relatively big and does not have any hostile creatures spawning inside, allowing you to make a base without any issues. The entrance to the cave is tucked at the lower side of the mountain.

5) La Catedral (80 latitude, 41.6 longitude)

Speaking of views, this location is also on top of a mountain, but the base is already pre-built. It’s a large ancient structure with gothic vibes. Being on top of a hill also means there’s no scarcity of resources. The only issue you may face is reaching this location without a flying tame.

If you like being incognito through your gameplay in ARK Survival Ascended, the Game Cave may be one of the best spots in Arat Prime. As the name suggests, it’s a cave with ample lighting from glowing gems, lots of resources, and a lack of hostile creatures.

8) Snow Lake (1.6 latitude, 43.1 longitude)

While not the friendliest location on the list, Snow Lake features a variety of wildlife, making it easy for you to find new tames. It’s located on top of the map (Arat Prime) and has ample flat ground near the edge of the lake for you to set up camp.

9) Grotto (10.3 latitude, 38.5 longitude)

Not a cave dweller? No worries, as this location provides a roof over your head and an open space to bring in your flying tames without any issues. If you only want the backdrop, there’s a flat surface right outside the Grotto where you can build your base.

10) Frostpunk (37.2 latitude, 11.9 longitude)

If you want Frostpunk vibes, then this location is the best spot to set up for your base. It’s a large crater in an open area with a single entrance, where you can build an entire village. There’s also a mountain and a lake nearby, so you won’t run out of resources anytime soon.
