Ever since the release of Season 2 with the Lemnian Hollow, players have questioned the main story's pacing and structure, as they are unsure of what to expect next. For example, version 2.2 and version 2.3 storyline diverges a bit from the story focused on the Obol Squad to the story of the Spook Shack members.

The developers shared that they plan to refine the narrative by converging the storylines together, creating a more consistent timeline for the characters and their gameplay stages. We can expect these changes with the release of version 2.4 story with Ye Shiyuan following Sarah's path to the Creator. They also plan to give older characters more attention so they stay relevant and connected to the main story, including Inter-Knot commissions and Fairy (AI) plotline.

New shops

New urban locations such as the 404 Error live house near the Sixth Street metro station, the antique shop Buyan, and the long-awaited hotpot restaurant will be added gradually across future versions. Zenless Zone Zero developers have also stated that from version 2.5 onwards, they will enhance sandbox exploration following the release of Ye Shunguang. She is an upcoming character from the Yunkui Summit and the sister of Ye Shiyuan. Her unique movement abilities include the use of a hoverboard, as shown in the Dev Talk teaser released on Bilibili.

Players can expect improved stage designs and monster skills, which are going to be interactive and easier to use in terms of exploration.
