The Cincinnati Bengals have a 4-10 record, and with how things have unraveled this season and in years past, it's no wonder that there are questions about Zac Taylor's job security.
But, with reports suggesting his job is safe, so much so that he is actually under contract through the 2027 season rather than just 2026, there were questions asked about his contract at his latest Wednesday press conference.
Chatterbox Sports on Twitter/x shared the exchange between Taylor and reporters, and the frustrating answers from Taylor only make the contract uncertainty all the more frustrating for the Bengals fanbase.
Bengals' Zac Taylor has frustrating response to contract questions
"I don't think it really matters, I coach every year like it's my last," Taylor said when asked about whether his contract is through 2027 or just 2026.

Taylor declined to comment on his reported contract extension through 2027, saying “it doesn’t matter,” and deflected questions about any assurances from ownership with, “you’d have to ask them.”#Bengals pic.twitter.com/MGLN8yO0Xw
When pressed for more clarification on his contract, Taylor said, "I'm not going to respond to that."
Another follow-up question on the topic from a reporter asked if the ownership group was involved in discussions with Taylor over his contract. The Bengals head coach explained, "We just talk every week. Every week we talk about everything."
It was another non-answer from Taylor, and with the frustrating exchange coming to an end, Taylor was asked one final time about his contract status. Taylor responded, "You'd have to ask them," referring to the Bengals ownership.

But, when it was explained that the Bengals reporters cannot talk with ownership, Taylor responded with a smile, "Well, I'm sorry."
The responses from Taylor when pressed about the status of his head coaching contract were incredibly frustrating and highlighted how things have gone awry this season.
If Taylor could just explain his current contract status, confirming the existence of another season, then it would be a story for a while, but then move on from it.
Now, with his coy and frustrating answers about his contract, there's a lot more uncertainty about his job status, and more questions will be asked going forward about his contract status, regardless of how well he coaches going forward.
This season has been a very frustrating one for the Bengals, and these answers from Taylor don't make things any better than they are.
