Gable Steveson’s stock keeps on rising with each appearance he makes. The former WWE and Olympian is now making waves in the MMA scene and already has some highlight finishes to talk about.

There’s no secret to Steveson’s desire to fight in the UFC. The American is training under Jon Jones and has been watched by the promotion’s executives for some time.

He was the latest guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast where the pair discussed several MMA topics. The UFC commentator and podcaster shared his thoughts on the current situation of the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Rogan didn’t believe enough quality fighters were there:

“The heavyweight division is so shallow right now. You got Tom Aspinall, Ciryl Gane, Jon Jones if he chooses to fight again, Francis [Ngannou] by some miracle if they can work something out and bring him back to the UFC. Other than that, there’s no one compelling, like a championship-caliber fighter. There’s basically four or five guys on earth that are in this championship-caliber class.”

Rogan, however, wasn’t all doom and gloom for the future of the division as he believed Steveson was already at the top of the heavyweight division and of championship caliber:

“You are already there, which is nuts. You’ve never even fought in the UFC yet.”

Rogan added that only a few would be able to deal with Steveson. He also believed that the major problem for Steveson would be getting fights in the UFC, presumably because no one would be willing to face him.

Joe Rogan sent Dana White a warning message about Gable Steveson

Joe Rogan seems to be a huge fan of Gable Steveson. In an earlier episode of the Joe Rogan podcast, the UFC commentator revealed that he sent a message to Dana White.

Rogan believed that everyone in the heavyweight division was in trouble:

“The heavyweight division is so devoid of talent. Gable Steveson is the f****** guy, that’s the guy. He is not even in the UFC yet. Olympic gold medalist, f***** freak athlete, 250 pounds, moves like a cat. I sent a text message to Dana White, I sent a video of Gable’s last fight, I said ‘everyone’s f***** everyone's f***** when this guy comes out,’ he KO’d this guy with his left hand and took him down as he was knocked down.”

Steveson won wrestling gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, however, he seems to have worked on his striking in recent years. The 25-year-old is 3-0 in his MMA and Dirty Boxing career with all of his wins coming via TKO or knock out.
