"You are not the main raider" - Pawan Sehrawat reveals his role after controversial exit from Tamil Thalaiavas post Pro Kabaddi 2025 

Star raider Pawan Sehrawat revealed the role that was given to him by Tamil Thalaivas after being brought by them for Pro Kabaddi 2025. Notably, Pawan made a controversial exit as he was sent back home midway through the season, citing disciplinary issues.

When asked about whether he had an issue regarding his role in the team, Pawan Sehrawat stated that he accepted what he was asked to do. He revealed that it was made clear to him that we would play as the second or third raider and not the main raider.

"No, it's nothing like that because that's an internal matter, that's a team's plan matter and until the league is running, until I am a part of Tamil Thalaivas. I can't even tell what roles I was given. But now the season is over. We can talk about this openly. My role was given that I have to play second raider or third raider. My role in the team was told to me that you are not the main raider. And why won't I accept?," he said during a conversation on Sunil Taneja's YouTube channel.

Pawan Sehrawat also gave an example from their very first game of the season against Telugu Titans. He stated how Arjun Deshwal had put in more raids in that game. As the Thalaivas were trailing after the first half, Pawan had asked their coach whether Arjun could win them the game from there. On the coach's approval, he made Arjun put in more raids despite being the skipper himself. The Thalaivas went on to win that match as well.

"You must have seen the first match too. In the first half, Arjun had raided. But Telugu Titans had taken the lead. After that I had asked coach when half time happened, I said coach, now there's a lead of seven. I have played with Arjun only in the India team. Apart from this, I have played very little with Arjun. I didn't get a chance to play with Arjun in local tournaments also because Guman etc., they make a different team. So I have no idea in what situation Arjun scores how many points. So I had asked at half time itself from coach, I said coach there's a lead of seven for Telugu. Will Arjun win the match in such a situation? So coach said yes he will win. So I said I'll try and see."

The Thalaivas won the game 38-35. Arjun scored 12 raid points from 20 raids, while Pawan Sehrawat scored nine raid points from 16 raids in that encounter.

Pawan Sehrawat reveals reasons given for his exit and major issues within the Tamil Thalaivas set-up

Pawan Sehrawat was released from the squad after just three matches into the season. The star raider revealed that he was shocked when he was given the reasons for his exit.

"The reasons given for sending me home were very petty and I was shocked seeing them like you are late by five minutes for a shoot, late by ten minutes for a captain shoot. I have an idea as a player when to go and how to go so there is no question on being late. These things were manipulated. These were the official reasons given to me. They just polished the rule and used it and sent me home," he said.

Pawan Sehrawat further exposed the management, stating that the coach and captain had no say in running the team. He stated that things such as how many raids a player would put in, who would play as the main raider, who would be the right corner, and so on would be informed by the management and not decided by the coach or captain.

He also added that while the players were informed of these things by the management, the responsibility for the loss would not be taken by them. Instead, the players were blamed after defeats.

"If coach or analyst explains this to me, then I understand this way of working. But explain to me, let anyone explain to me. But after explaining, I did that and the team lost. Then also take responsibility. Players are not playing by their plans but are blamed for the loss then," he said.

Pawan Sehrawat played three matches in Pro Kabaddi 2025 and scored 22 raid points. It remains to be seen whether he will continue with the Thalaivas next season.
