Veteran Australian batter Usman Khawaja announced his retirement from international cricket on Friday, January 2. The last Test of Ashes 2025-26 to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 4 will be his last match for Australia. Incidentally, the 39-year-old made his Test debut at the same venue against England in January 2011.
The left-handed batter was out for two in Perth in the opening Ashes 2025-26 Test. Khawaja was subsequently ruled out of the Brisbane Test due to back spasms. He was set to be dropped for the Adelaide Test, but ended up playing after Steve Smith was ruled out due to vertigo. Khawaja contributed 82 & 40 in the third Test, but only managed 29 & 0 in Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
Following Khawaja's decision to retire from international cricket, we compare his Test stats with those of Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Since Jaiswal has played 28 Tests so far, we compare his stats with those of Khawaja after the Aussie had also played the same number of Test matches.
