The New York Yankees have a big need with their offense this season, as Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Cody Bellinger are all sidelined right now. But, even when they get back, this team needs more firepower.
Regardless of how they do it, the Yankees must address this need by the Monday, August 3 MLB trade deadline. One way of doing so would be to acquire a new slugging catcher. Fortunately, a recent report revealed one .798 OPS option is available.
However, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic are reporting that this Miami Marlins catcher, Liam Hicks, is not someone the Yankees presently have interest in.

"The Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox are among the teams interested in Hicks, the person said," Rosenthal and Sammon report. "The New York Yankees are not involved in the talks. Hicks bats left-handed, and the Yankees want a right-handed hitting receiver."
Hicks might be the best catcher who could be traded this summer by the August 3 deadline, with the other top options not being likely to get dealt.
Hunter Goodman is a long shot to be traded due to the exorbitant price. Adley Rutschman could go, but he's not a lock either. Ryan Jeffers would be a great pickup, but the Minnesota Twins are contenders and might keep him.

Hicks, however, is now receiving significant attention ahead of the deadline. Rosenthal and Sammon are reporting that he's someone the Marlins are having active trade discussions about before the deadline on Monday, August 3.
For the Yankees, however, because Hicks is a left-handed hitter, they're reportedly not involved in the market for the .798 OPS slugger.
In 100 games this season, Hicks has posted 2.5 bWAR with 14 home runs, 99 hits, 54 runs, nine doubles, one triple, 62 RBIs, and a .283 batting average with 40 walks and 38 strikeouts. He'd be a fantastic pickup for any contender in need of catching help.
That is why the Yankees' lack of interest is so odd. he might not be a right-handed hitting catcher like the Yankees are looking for, but they shouldn't get picky considering the lack of available options who could make a meaningful difference behind the plate.
