Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt repeats rare Tarik Skubal feat for first time since 2021

New York Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is playing out of his mind right now. 

It's like he's forgotten he's 38 years old. 

The former MVP with the St. Louis Cardinals and seven-time All-Star is receiving most of the DH duties while Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are injured. 

Last night against the Detroit Tigers, he accomplished a hitting feat that only he had done once before.

That's now twice in Goldschmidt's career that he's gone deep against Skubal two times in a game.

No other hitter has managed to do it once against the back-to-back AL Cy Young Award winner.

• Goldschmidt is hitting .408 in 76 at-bats against left-handed pitching 
• He has 10 more home runs than Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in 111 fewer plate appearances 
• His 14 homers are already four more than he hit in 534 trips to the plate in 2025 

Goldschmidt has been a beast for the Yankees this year. Having him as a weapon in the lineup or off the bench is an awesome luxury for New York and manager Aaron Boone.
