This upcoming Major League Baseball season, the league is fully introducing ABS, or the Automated Ball and Strike system, to help make the correct ball and strike calls.
Players will have the chance to challenge pitches, which should help reduce the number of times a manager or player is thrown out for arguing balls and strikes.
However, The Athletic's Jim Bowden is predicting that New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, despite ABS being implemented this season, will break his own personal ejection record, reaching double-digits for the first time in his career.
Yankees' Aaron Boone predicted to be ejected 10 times in 2026
"The ABS challenge system is a huge success, but in a surprise twist, it does not reduce the number of ejections for Yankees manager Aaron Boone," Bowden predicts. "Instead, he'll be tossed 10 times, the most in his career for a single season."
Boone being thrown out of a few games this upcoming season wouldn't be a surprise. He's been tossed plenty of times in his career, with only one season since 2019 featuring fewer than five ejections.
However, with ABS in place, managers shouldn't be able to argue balls and strikes as often, thanks to pitchers, catchers, and hitters getting the chance to challenge those bad calls.

And yet, Boone is predicted to be tossed 10 times this upcoming season, the first time he would've reached double-digits, with his previous high being nine in 2022.
Boone is sure to be tossed a few times this upcoming season, and despite ABS seeming like it will help cut down on ejections, Boone is predicted to be thrown out more than ever in 2026 for a personal record-breaking ejection year.
This is a ridiculous prediction, but it's also a fun one to keep track of. One more prone to ejections in baseball, Boone's ejection tracker this season could be an interesting storyline to follow all year, with the new wrinkle of the ABS challenge system.
