Xavier's Richard Pitino has best milestone joke before potentially historic matchup with dad Rick Pitino and St. John's

Richard Pitino and his Xavier Musketeers are set to take on Rick Pitino and St. John's this weekend.

Rick, the father, gets to coach against his son.

And a lot is being made about one milestone. A win for Rick would be the 900th of his career.

Richard decided to get in on the fun with this post on X:

For those that think round numbers are silly, they'll gladly side with Richard on this one.

On paper, it looks like St. John's is more likely to reach the milestone win.

The Johnnies are 14-5, including 7-1 in the Big East, and they enter on a five-game winning streak.

Xavier is 11-8, with a 3-5 conference mark.

Does a father-son matchup like this work the same as a rivalry, where they say you can throw out the records? Guess we'll all find out on Saturday.

Someone will celebrate a milestone win, sort of. And the postgame handshake will feature father and son, one victorious and one not, no matter what.
