The Pittsburgh Steelers need to address the quarterback position in 2026 and a familiar name is open to playing for the team.
That familiar name is none other than veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who will be a free agent this offseason after spending time with the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.
If Flacco were to play for the Steelers, he will have completed the grand slam of playing for AFC North teams after starting his career with the Baltimore Ravens.
“I think it would be strange. I do think having a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey on would be a little more strange than even a Browns or Bengals jersey. For whatever reason,” Flacco told the BMore Sports Pod Podcast this week.
“But I think at this point, I’m pretty much open for most things. [That is] if I can see an opportunity in it," Flacco added.
While it would no doubt be weird to see Flacco playing for the Steelers, who have been the Ravens' biggest rival over the years, we said the same thing about Flacco playing for the Browns and Bengals, yet here we are.
The only way we could see the Steelers bringing in Flacco is if the Aaron Rodgers does not come back and Steelers decide to go with a competition featuring Mason Rudolph and Will Howard for the starting job in 2026.
In that scenario, it would make sense for the Steelers to bring in Flacco to add to that competition that will feature two signal-callers who are far from cemented as legit starting options.
However, with a veteran roster and no sign of the Steelers breaking their roster down to the studs, we would expect a bigger move from Pittsburgh to add to its room, whether that be via trade, free agency or the draft.
Flacco will be playing somewhere in 2026, but we wouldn't anticipate his landing spot being in Pittsburgh.
