Several WWE stars were in action at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide this weekend. The show emanated from the Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera, Mexico City.
The show featured major main roster talent such as Dominik Mysterio, El Grande Americano, Chelsea Green, Dragon Lee, and some top NXT prospects like Je Von Evans, Ethan Page, Lola Vince, and more. The event also had popular luchadors such as Mr. Iguana, Psycho Clowns, and El Hijo del Vikingo.
For the November 22 event, there were some non-televised matches set up for the show before AAA began broadcasting on WWE's YouTube channel and their own platforms. Fightful reported that during one of these dark matches, lucha sensation Lince Dorado issued an open challenge for anyone brave enough to step up to him. Former WWE United States and Intercontinental Champion, Apollo Crews, answered the call. The two stars had a thrilling encounter, and Crews ended up picking up the win in his comeback appearance. This was the first time Apollo wrestled since his appearance on Friday Night SmackDown back in January 2025, totalling a massive 302 days away from the ring. He had suffered a torn pec injury that put him on the sidelines for an extended period.
Apollo Crews became a college graduate during his WWE off-time
Apollo Crews was last seen in the ring on the January 24 edition of SmackDown. He went head-to-head against Johnny Gargano. In fact, the star made quick work of the #DIY member.
The match was cut short when the Motor City Machine Guns interfered. They were feuding with Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa back then.
The talented wrestler did not slow down during his injury. Amidst training and rehab, he decided to go back to school and earn his college degree. Apollo graduated with honors and even shared a social media post celebrating the achievement.
