WWE issues public statement after Drew McIntyre verbally assaults Cody Rhodes' wife

WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre went overboard during a promo on this week’s episode of SmackDown. The Scottish Psychopath made full use of his immunity to physical attacks from Cody Rhodes when he landed a vicious remark about Brandi Rhodes. Following this, WWE posted an update.

Drew McIntyre said that The American Nightmare was upset that he had infiltrated his tour bus because his family also lives there sometimes. He noted, however, that Rhodes was making a fuss because his family wasn’t there during the ambush. McIntyre also added that he wished it weren’t the case and that everyone had been present.

The former World Heavyweight Champion said he would’ve beaten the Undisputed Champion up in front of his kids and shown Brandi Rhodes what a real ‘daddy’ looks like. Following this remark, WWE’s official X account posted the clip of this segment with the caption:

The Scottish Warrior didn’t stop escalating the situation and was trying to provoke Cody Rhodes to hit him. Had The American Nightmare landed a blow, he would’ve been stripped of his Undisputed Championship.

Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes will fight for the Undisputed Championship outside the US

Aside from immunity to physical attacks, Drew McIntyre also received the privilege of deciding the conditions and stipulations of a title match against Cody Rhodes. After his verbal jab about Brandi Rhodes, the Scotsman revealed that he wants to fight for the Undisputed Championship in Berlin, Germany.

McIntyre chose Three Stages of Hell as the stipulation for the match. Landing a final verbal blow on Rhodes, the Scottish Psychopath asked the champ to say hi to his deceased father, Dusty Rhodes, once he sent him to hell.

The American Nightmare snapped upon hearing this and pushed away Nick Aldis, who was trying to hold him back. However, that brief window allowed McIntyre to land a Claymore on Rhodes. It would be interesting to see whether Drew McIntyre can finally win a world title again.
