Brooklyn Nets vs Minnesota Timberwolves preview

The Brooklyn Nets opened December with three wins but have since doubled that total, recording nine victories overall. They are also 3–2 in their last five games and enter this matchup riding a two-game winning streak.

Their upward trajectory has been driven by noticeable improvement on the defensive end, with the Nets ranking 10th in the league by allowing 113.9 ppg. Offensively, however, there is still room for growth, as they are averaging just 109.3 ppg, the second-worst mark in the NBA.

Michael Porter Jr. has been their best performer, averaging 25.7 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Meanwhile, Nic Claxton has been a great secondary option, recording 13.6 ppg and 7.8 rpg.

On the other hand, the Minnesota Timberwolves saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Thursday. Returning to Minneapolis on Saturday, this matchup serves as a brief stop at home before they head out on a four-game road trip to the East.

The Timberwolves have been a well-balanced team this season, ranking 11th in both offensive and defensive efficiency. They are averaging 119.1 ppg on offense while allowing 114.4 ppg defensively.

Anthony Edwards continues to be Minnesota’s most reliable option, leading the team with 29.4 ppg. However, Julius Randle has also been pivotal, making a strong impact on both ends of the floor while averaging 22.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

In terms of injuries, the Brooklyn Nets will be without Haywood Highsmith. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves could be missing Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley, while Terrance Shannon Jr. will definitely be out.
