A WWE Hall of Famer has praised Donald Trump amid controversy. The U.S. President has divided opinion over some of his policies, with the crackdown by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) being a major issue.
Trump caused more controversy after his social media post about the passing of filmmaker Rob Reiner. The President said Reiner suffered from "Trump Derangement Syndrome," and it didn't go down well with many people.
Musician Jack White criticized Trump, and he was backed by WWE legend Mick Foley. In his Instagram Stories, Foley questioned how his colleagues in the Stamford-based promotion stand with Trump.
However, amid all this chaos, the 79-year-old Republican has received praise from another WWE name. Taking to X (Twitter), Rob Van Dam thanked Donald Trump for signing an executive order that classified cannabis/marijuana as a Schedule 3 controlled substance.
"Thank you @realDonaldTrump for admitting the medical effects of cannabis for millions of people, for the first time at your level in my entire life. Nice birthday present. 😏" he wrote.Previously, marijuana/cannabis had been a Schedule 1 drug, which meant it was classified on the same level as drugs like heroin, LSD, and Ecstasy. Notably, Schedule 1 drugs are considered substances with no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.
Mick Foley cut ties with WWE due to Donald Trump
Mick Foley had called out Donald Trump for the actions of ICE, and the President's comments about Rob Reiner's passing proved to be the final straw for the Hardcore legend.
In a post on Instagram, Foley publicly announced his decision to part ways with WWE. He said he doesn't wish to be a part of a company that "coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion."
He mentioned that he has informed WWE talent relations that he won't be making any appearances for the promotion while Trump remains in office. Foley also added that he won't be signing new a Legends deal after his current one expires in June.
WWE stars and officials have shown support for Trump recently, with Triple H present at the White House when he reintroduced the Presidential Fitness Test.
